Ultrafiltration (UF) Equipment

Reduce operating costs and maintain efficiency with longer lasting membranes.

Ultrafiltration (UF) is a water purification technology in which feed water is forced through semipermeable membranes to separate and remove suspended solids, colloids, a range of salts, and most organic molecules including bacteria and viruses. UF is an effective means of producing consistently high-quality, low-turbidity, low-SDI (silt density index) permeate perfect for drinking water, wastewater, water-reuse applications, industrial feedwater and RO pretreatment. Ultrafiltration outperforms traditional legacy type filtration systems in half the space, using a fraction of the energy, and virtually no chemicals or coagulants.

ZeeWeed Ultrafiltration Hollow-Fiber Membranes

Veolia's ZeeWeed ultrafiltration (UF) hollow-fiber membranes are designed with a robust life expectancy, giving you confidence in your water treatment system’s operation and helping you comply with regulatory requirements.

ZeeWeed 1500: Innovative pressurized ultrafiltration hollow-fiber membranes

Organics, silt, and other particulate material in water give it a cloudy, dark appearance. This makes the water unsafe for drinking and ineffective for industrial processes. ZW1500 ultrafiltration (UF) membranes remove these particles, bacteria and viruses for an exceptional clean water. This is possible because the ZW1500 UF membrane has a 0.02-micron pore structure that rejects these small particles and micro-organisms.

ZW1500 is perfect for drinking water because it removes harmful bacteria and viruses while preserving essential salts and ions in the water. For industrial applications, removing organic, colloidal and particulate matter prepares the water for further treatment by Reverse Osmosis (RO) treatment. UF pre-treatment reduces fouling on downstream process equipment and additional filtration unit operations. This makes for a more efficient water treatment train.

ZeeWeed 1500 is an outside-in feed, hollow-fiber, PVDF ultrafiltration membrane. ZW1500 does not require a pressure vessel – it is a fully self-contained, modular unit. Although ZW1500 can handle feed pressures up to 55 psi, high pressures are rarely required to achieve high output flow rates of clean, filtered water.

ZeeWeed Ultrafiltration ZW1500 systems are ideal for multiple applications including: drinking water treatment, industrial process water treatment, tertiary filtration, RO pretreatment for brackish and seawater, and custom applications.

  • Performance: True Ultrafiltration with 0.02-micron pore size for high reject of turbidity, colloidal material and suspended solids (TSS), bacteria and, virus. Achieve SDI < 3 for RO pre-treatment.
  • Efficient: Operate at high recovery rates > 95% for water conservation and cost savings.
  • Easy to Clean: fouling-resistant PVDF membrane with high resistance to oxidants
  • Simple: Victaulic groove clamp connections for simple installation. 1.9m tall and 180mm diameter module is easy to handle and install.
  • Reliable: Meet or exceed drinking water and re-use water regulatory requirements.

Z-PAK RMS Pressurized UF Systems

The Z-PAK RMS (Rackless Membrane System) is a pre-assembled skid mounted UF system ideally suited for numerous applications including drinking water treatment, wastewater and water-reuse applications, and reverse osmosis pretreatment. These systems are expandable, compact in design, and reliable. Compared to traditional granular filter media, the ZeeWeed ZW1500 membranes produce superior water quality, and are virtually unaffected by variable raw water quality, at comparable costs to the consumer.

  • The ZeeWeed 1500 membrane has a 0.02 μm nominal pore diameter - for optimal removal of particulates, bacteria, and viruses. Its PVDF chemistry gives mechanical strength and chemical resistance.
  • Z-PAK’s modular mechanical and electrical design of RMS and pump skids provides tremendous design flexibility while minimizing site installation.
  • Z-PAK has a large flow range – 100 gpm (22.7 m3/h) for 1 train up to 4400 gpm (999.3 m3/h) for 4 trains, and allows high recoveries (up to 97% with 2 stages).
  • Z-PAK operates automatically (including membrane integrity tests, cleans and neutralization).
  • Z-PAK is designed with high quality equipment and materials to ensure long term, robust performance. Equipment is well laid out for ease of access.
  • Z-PAK has a slim, low profile to fit in buildings with low ceilings and tight spaces.
  • Applications include: RO pretreatment, drinking water treatment, waste and tertiary water treatment, water-reuse processing, and industrial process water
